Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment, also known as Endodontic Treatment, is a dental procedure used to treat a tooth that has become infected or severely decayed. The treatment involves removing the infected or damaged pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth) and filling the resulting space with a special filling material to restore the tooth’s structure and function. During the procedure, the dentist or endodontist will numb the area around the tooth and create an opening in the crown to access the pulp chamber.

They will then use small instruments to remove the damaged or infected pulp and shape the root canals. The canals are then cleaned and filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha, which seals the canals to prevent further infection. After the root canal treatment is completed, the tooth will be restored with a filling or crown to protect it and restore its function. With proper care, a tooth that has had a root canal can last a lifetime.
